Discover the things to do in Florence during your Holiday

If you come to Florence with your family or a group of friends and you don’t know where to go and how to have fun, let me help you and tell you what are the Things to do in Florence!

Here are some tips for all ages and all tastes.

Historic Center of Florence

The historic center of Florence was made patrimony of Unesco in 1982.
It is a shopper’s paradise with small boutiques scattered around the city.
There are also lots of charming bars and Gelato shops.

Florence’s marketplaces are lively and colorful. They are great places to find some local souvenirs. Three popular marketplaces are San Lorenzo, the Mercato Nuovo and the iconic Sant’Ambrogio Market.

For those who love nightlife, there are lots of Pubs, Discos, speak easy and secret bars.
I will let you know where they are and how to get in.

Florence also has many lovely squares and gardens where you can sit and take in the charming atmosphere of this marvelous town.

Where to take the best pictures in Florence

Florence is the picture perfect!
There are many places you can go get lovely photographs. Wherever you go, you will always find something intriguing that will catch your eye.

Don’t miss Piazzale Michelangelo which is Florence’s overlook.

But remember that the locals take their pictures from San Miniato Church which is nearby.
A great picture of Ponte Vecchio can be taken from Santa Trinita Bridge.

Wine tasting in Florence

Are you looking for a place to enjoy a nice glass of wine?

You won’t be disappointed as Tuscany is famous for its full bodied red wines and its “Vernaccia” or “Vermentino” whites.

Some wine cellars in Florence are: Enoteca Alessi, Enoteca Pitti Gola, Enoteca Bellini, La Cantinetta Antinori, Cantinetta dei Verrazzano which produce their own wine. You can also taste typical Italian cuisine with your wine.

Some examples of great wine: Chianti DOCG, Il Brunello di Montalcino, il Nobile di Montepulciano e il Bolgheri.

The Best Gelato in Florence

You need an entire website when talking about Gelato.
Here are some of my favorites: Gelateria de’Neri, Gelateria la Carraia, La Strega Nocciola…even Vivoli is not bad.

Remember you can have more the one flavor in your cup or on your cone.
If you want to taste some other flavors try the “Buontalenti”.
The name “Buontalenti” is dedicated to the famous architect Bernardo Buontalenti from the 1500s who is said to have invented gelato around 1580.
